Inishowen League – Strand Hotel Division One
Cockhill Celtic Youth – 1 (K McDaid)
Gleneely Colts FC – 1 (McCann)
The colts stunned the visitors when Billy McCann fired them ahead from the penalty spot on 10 minutes after Cory O Brien had been upended. But Cockhill equalised on 18 minutes when Christopher Duffy played a lovely ball over the defence to release Michael Doherty and his low cross was fired home by Kevin McDaid. McDaid then released Doherty but he fired straight at Adrian Duffy in the Colts goal. On the stroke of half time a delightful Jack McDaid(B) run saw him advance goalwards but he dragged his effort across goal and just wide. Cockhill had the first chance of the second period when Duffy’s cross found Mark McDaid but he failed to hit the target. On the hour mark Nathan McLaughlin broke on the right but Conor Allen cleared the danger. Michael Doherty (o) was then shown a second yellow card to reduce the home side to ten men. Gleneely tried to take advantage with Cory O Brien seeing a free kick blocked before Having another effort deflected over. In a rare break for the youths Shay McLaughlin’s dangerous cross was well gathered by Duffy. On 86 minutes McCann beat the offside trap but Michael Noone blocked his goal bound effort. The final effort fell to the colts with McCann again denied by a superb tip over by Caldwell and from the corner Nathan McLaughlin headed over.
